Trevon Thorpe! The name doesn't ring a bell? Looking for his name on Google? Can only find few pictures, maybe just a HUDL highlight video? Well, how about you dig a little into the sports history books in the Hampton Roads area. Look up his brothers Tavon Gatlin and Dejor Simmons. Some say Tavon was the best athlete outside of Percy Harvin to ever be from the Virginia Beach, Virginia area. Dejor Simmons, Dual athlete, and was breaking state records left and right would later go on to play football at James Madison University. That is not the only top athletes that run in this young man's bloodline. Jahvoni Simmons All-State LB now at UVA, those are just a few of Trevon's talented family. Well, that still doesn't tell us who Trevon Thorpe is now doing it? Trevon is a running back and defensive back for the Kellam Knights, that resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is the number one option on his offense. Even though he is considered undersized by many he plays big, he is not afraid to run between the tackles. His hunger to play at the next level is like no other. Once you take a look at his highlight tape you can do nothing but believe that he can play on a field at the next level. He told me he wants no one to take his humbleness as a lack of confidence. He told me in his locker room, he is an instrumental leader to the team. He does not want to be known as Tavon or Dejor little brother, he doesn’t want people to say hey aren’t you related to Jahvoni. He wants to people to remember him for what he did, the legacy he leaves on Hampton Roads Football. I believe Thorpe can play at the next level.I can not say if it will be Divison I, because I am not a Head Coach of a program. What I do know is that size is not a big factor anymore when it comes to making a big impact on the field. That is what Thorpe wants to do. He wants those lights shining down on him and only him.
