The Support behind Dunston

Where I’m from some of the most talented people in the city never make it out. Most of them are swallowed up by the streets and are given to the judicial system. It is a more likely outcome than leaving straight from high school and things working out right? However, there are the Zack Dunston's of the world, who leave for school and are as talented as can be,but have obstacles thrown at you to the point where some days you question its worth.

That is was happened to Zack Dunston. He was one of the best DB in the Virginia Beach, Virginia area when he attended Green Run High School. Zack would graduate and go on to attend Marshall University where he contributed to them winning a bowl game. Many say Dunston should've been named the MVP of that game.

Things would soon come to a hault, whether it be troubles in the classroom or Dunston’s mindset of not being committed anymore. He eventually left Marshall University. Many whispered in the city about what would be his next move. Several rumors floated around but no one truly knew the answers. I do not believe that even Dunston knew at the time. Dunston had a lot going on as he will tell you himself. For example, with two brothers in correctional facilities one could have easily said that Dunston was next in line. With the love that he had for his mother and older sister, he was more focused on not letting them down. Dunston had a strong support system from high school teachers to middle school football coaches. Not many athletes have that type of support. He also had very close friends which he would consider family that kept him focused, such as his childhood friend Tyree McAllister.

A year or two later there were people starting to believe it was over for Dunston and that he would be just another talent that faded away. Dunston knew differently. What many did not know was that he was making a major comeback. He was keeping his football skills sharp whether it was in the gym with old high school friends or training on the field with fellow Virginia Beach athletes, both in college and the pros.

Dunston did return back to college and football . He is currently attending Virginia Union University. Not only is he back on the football field he is back in the classroom. For many athletes like Dunston, football is much more than a game. Football is the motivating factor that pushes them just to be great human beings. Dunston could have easily gave up and faded off into the streets but he decided nothing would stop him from reaching his dreams. His goals were too big to be stopped. The road is bright for this Virginia Beach native and only time will tell where his career goes from this point forward.
