Sage Harold is making a name for himself and in all the right ways. Sage recently became an undrafted free agent forthe Kansas City Chiefs, where Sage plans to begin a long lustrious career in the NFL. I had tthe opportuity to ask Sage a few questions:
Q:When you first found out that you would be a NFL player how did it make you feel?
A:It was a dream come true. It was a lot of excitement for my family and I. Q: With you being from the Virginia Beach, VA area where talent has seemed to find it's way around the whole 757 area, how does it make you feel to be in the same category as some of those big name?
A:It's an honor to have my name acknowledged amongst the great leaders from the 757 area. I pride myself on representing my hometown. Q: Now that you are playing on a team with 2 of the NFL premiere pass rushers Tamba Hali and Justin Houston,do you look as it as maybe they can teach you somethings to maybe make you into one of the NFL's premeiere pass rushers, or do you feel this is putting your career on hold because you have to sit behind these guys?
A:I love the fact that I can come into a situation and learn from two great pass rushers. Those guys have a lot to offer a youngin like myself. It just behoves me to listen. Also coming from college I look at the guys who are considered leaders on the team and Tamba and justin are that, so I look forward to finding my role and learning from those guys so that when my time comes I'll be acknowledged amongst these two greats. Q:Who is the one QB who you would like to sack the most?
A: I want to sack every QB that's not in my team. Q:I know you lost your brother Forrest when you were younger. How does that motivate you today? What would he tell you if he was here? What would you like to say to him?
A:I lost my brother on my 19th birthday. I made a promise to him after his death that everything I did after that would be dedicated to him. If he had still been here he would be so hyped, the Chiefs was his team growing up. He would definitely tell me I better do work on the field. I would tell my brother that we made it and that I'm going to be great. Q: Some may not know you are not the only Harold member in the NFL who is also a pass rusher isn't that correct? Which one of you will have more sacks when your careers are said and done?
A:Yes sir that's correct. Me and Eli always race to the top with production. We both pride ourselves on how hard we play and being dominant pass rushers. That's one we'll wait for the end of our careers to discuss. ( I'll win ) Q:I know you train relentlessly so who would you credit with some of the attributes you have gained since leaving James Madison University, and heading to thr NFL?
A:Tom shaw is who I last trained with after college. One of the best in the business. And I came home to va beach and trained hard at flex gym, the best gym in the area. They have everything that it takes to build and sculpt an athlete. Q: What would you like to say to the people back in your hometown, not just family and friends but the young kids who are looking up to you now, or even those you may have went to school with that are rooting you on?
A:I would tell them to never lose sight of their dreams, never take handouts, and work hard for everything you want. It's never easy but you will appreciate it more when you worked for it. Remember the people who pushed you and the people pulled you back. And most of all BE ABOUT YOU BUSINESS. Make a name for yourself and do whatever to keep it clean and positive.
