6'4, long, athletic, respectable footwork, astronomical post moves, can handle the ball, and has a mid-range jump shot, that's just a few things this player has in their repertoire. This player is already being scouted by a few colleges such as; UVA, Villanova, and Penn State. Would you believe me if I told you I was talking about an 8th grade female basketball player? Rochelle Norris Forward from Northern Virginia is legit. As you watch her play with most kids her age you can clearly see how her talent exceeds the rest, this includes the opponent and her own teammates, the discrepancy of her talents and those in her grade sometimes cripples Rochelle and stops you from seeing how elite her talents really are. This past month she played with an elite AAU team in Hampton Virginia who is nationally ranked, and if you know anything about AAU basketball in the state of Virginia you know that the Boo Williams teams are above not only those in the state but around the country. As I watched her play I saw glimpses of a young Brittney Griner with better ball handling skills. Sounds crazy doesn't it? It's true. What I get excited about most when Rochelle is on the floor is her defensive prowess, she will lockdown the paint, block anyone's shot who comes anywhere close of the rim, rebound anything coming off the rim. Her footwork on the defensive end is better than 90% her age. Rochelle's upside on the offensive end makes her scary. She can drive to the hoop, back a defender down then give a post move or she will rise up for the jumper. She has pure raw talent which you just can't teach, so wherever she may attend high school with the right coach she will be taught some things, and after that you can bet on seeing her in newspapers and on Espn.
